Interested in how the Queensland floods have been handled by council and also emergency services - ABC using crowdsource maps, Qld Police using Facebook because websites down because of traffic. What do councils need to consider to get info out when distaster strikes.

Interested in case studies of how councils have made innovative use of YouTube, Vimeo etc, for delivery of general info online or one-off projects. What worked, what didn't, and what resources were required to make it happen.
Attendees to complete a basic survey before the conference with results distributed. This would help create conversation starters and compare notes, etc. Survey could include: use of social media, which team owns the website IT or Comms, which CMS used for website and for intranet, current challenges, apps that you're using (i.e. fix my street), etc.
Once you have an online hub for your community to interact with, what is the best way to manage and motivate members to return on a regular basis and to actively contribute to discussions? Also, how much time should be dedicated to managing an online community? It would be great to see a case study of someone who is doing this well.
Councils by their very nature are complex organisations - we are not selling a handful of products of information sets. Can we get an expert in who can talk to us about balancing the needs of many and yet keeping a homepage as simple as possible. New technology, new ways of thinking etc?
I love the conference dinner but need help finding a suitable venue! Any ideas?
Had a really lovely meal at this place (upstairs, downstairs is the busy bar) just before last year's conference - French and cosy - or maybe it will not be big enough at all. Food was on the pricey side but maybe it was the wine that pushed the bill up! It's also very close to conference centre if we were to be there again.
This place in Cleveland Street Surry Hills has fantastic food and great South American wine. Predominately Brazilian, it's quite small with great staff who also make a mean cocktail.
